Charges are pending against a 17-year-old boy who authorities say led police on a chase
that ended when the new Cadillac he was driving and the police car plunged into the
Minnesota River.
Redwood Falls police say the chase began around 3:45 this morning after officer Tim
Fischer tried to make a traffic stop and the driver took off.
The officer pursued the vehicle through Redwood Falls and both vehicles drove off a boat
landing into the river. The 2005 Cadillac owned by Priscella Grundeman and the squad car
were both submerged.
Police say Grundeman and the boy driving the car both were able to get themselves to
shore, where the boy was arrested. Officer Fischer also swam to shore in full gear. No
injuries were reported.
The Cadillac was removed from the river early this morning. The police car was recovered
later from about 30 feet of water.
